Valdez, Part 2

It was one of our goals on this trip to find a spot for Ricky to swim in the bay and get his paws wet with Pacific waters.  We found a great spot with nerve wrackingly jagged beautiful rocks that the kids loved climbing on.  Audrey channeled her inner walrus.

On our way back to the campsite we stopped at a Forest Service visitor center with a little waterfall behind it.  Max got a kick out of using the telescope, though I'm pretty sure he just looked at our truck the whole time.

On our way home the next day it was too rainy to explore but we made a quick stop to peek in an old railroad tunnel.

Valdez, Part 1

We took a long weekend trip to camp in Valdez.  On the way we stopped at Worthington Glacier.  It was raining and the rocks were slippery so we didn't make it all the way to the glacier, but Ricky got to drink freshly melted glacial water so that made it worth it.

The next day was a beautiful day (in coastal Alaska terms).  Kids marveled at the boats and even got invited onto a yacht to honk the horn.  We found the perfect picnic spot and took a little hike.

Chickenstock 2018

A couple weekends ago we drove to Chicken for Chickenstock Music Fest.  It was a fun weekend of camping, music, and dancing in the midnight sun.  Audrey couldn't keep herself away from the dance floor and she gained many fans (and also some free accessories).  Max made friends with a group of kids who camped near us and they spent most of the time playing on the hill behind the stage.  He came down to the dance floor for the "Peep Show"; a plane that flies over the crowd and drops peeps.

We look forward to going again next year!

Tip toe through the lupine

It's been a busy summer!  I have been doing my best to get the kids outside when the weather is nice.  The wildflowers have been blooming all over the place.  A few weeks ago we found a little field of lupine to play in.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Audrey!

Audrey is three years old!  She loves all things pretty and pink, dancing, and playing in the dirt.  Her new favorite thing is smelling the flowers in our greenhouse.  She asks tells us to move the step stool underneath each hanging basket so she can climb up and smell the flowers.
