Doorway Jumper

This week we set up the doorway jumper so Audrey had something new to play with.  Max took charge and showed her how to use it.

It's really fun when you give it a big spin.

Hamming it up for the camera.

"But I'm Not Tired!"

Max doesn't like to sleep.  From the day he was born he fought naps and bedtime tooth and nail.  The nap time routine usually goes something like this: tell him to lay in his bed, give him a kiss on the forehead, walk out of the room, then anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes of him crying and sneaking out of his room before he gives up and goes to bed.

Today started out in the same fashion.  Audrey was being fussy (yes, it has been one of THOSE days) so I took her to our room to settle her down.  Max's cries stopped after a few minutes.  When I went back to his room to make sure he was sleeping and not playing this is what I found.

I imagine he was waiting for me to return so we could go through the part of the routine where I say "Go lay down" 100 times, but fell asleep when I took too long to come back.

One at a Time

I finally accepted that taking photos of them when they are both awake is near impossible.  So I'm going to try waiting till one is asleep and then take photos of the other one.  Today we'll start with Audrey.

I know he needs a nap.  He knows he needs a nap.  Even his bear knows he needs a nap.  But he's going to keep his eyes open with every last bit of energy he has left.

Finally Max is asleep, which naturally means Audrey is wide awake.

This strong little lady now rolls over from her back to her belly.

Mmmm, fingers!

Audrey, Three Months Old

Another month has flown by.  She smiles, giggles, and drools a lot, likes to take baths, holds her head up well, and sleeps through the night (knock on wood).  She's getting close to rolling over, too.  We're looking forward to another month of milestones!

"Everybody look at me and smile!"

Halfway there.  We'll keep working on it.

Winery

There's a winery in Monroe, Louisiana that has live music a few times a month from the spring through the fall.  We try to go whenever the weather is nice.  Max doesn't get around other kids often so it's fun to see him play with them.  He's not afraid to take off on his own and approach people.  He made a lot of friends, ran up and down the hill many times, and of course found a patch of dirt to play in.

People watching is one of the best parts of these kinds of events.

Shaking it on the dance floor.

This lady was so impressed with his moves she asked him to dance.

Mom had to swing him around the dance floor.

It's nice to hang out with like-minded people.

He can't wait to come back!

Bye Bye, Heat Wave!

The temperature finally dropped and today it's nice enough to get outside and play!  And by "dropped" I mean it is only 92 degrees.  We have been stuck inside for a month and it felt so good to get fresh air.  It's so weird to have cabin fever in the summer.

Max quickly got to work doing a little art on the concrete.

Audrey and Ricky laid in the shade and did some cloud gazing.

"That cloud looks like a puppy!"

"There's another puppy!  And another one!"

Didn't take long for Max to get dirty.

Dirt on the back of the neck, too?  You have to really try hard to get this dirty.

He's having fun so I'm not going to stop him.  That's what soap is for!

 Let's check back on Audrey.

This girl knows how to relax on a summer day outside.

Since little sister is asleep and we're already a mess, might as well get out the sand table.  Yes, that little pink blob on the left is Audrey living the life.

A few minutes on the swing with mom and his eyes started to glaze over.  Little guy is worn out.
Mission accomplished.

Audrey, Two Months Old

It took most of the day to get photos of her awake but here they are!

Our growing girl is packing on the weight and has some really nice squishy arm and leg rolls.  I love a chubby baby!  Her eye color has lightened a little bit but no big change.  While it's too early to know what color they will be I think it's safe to say that Ross's brown eye gene didn't get passed onto to his kids.  Everyday she smiles more and even lets out little giggles.

Ready to go back to sleep.
